Samsung has announced the expansion of cryptocurrency features currently only available on its flagship model, the Galaxy S10, to its entire Galaxy line.
According to Business Korea, the digital wallet app will now be available on more affordable models which will be released in new jurisdictions.
Chae Won-cheol, Senior Managing Director of the Product Strategy Team for Samsung Electronic’s Wireless Business Division stated: We will lower barriers to new experiences by gradually expanding the number of Galaxy models that support blockchain functions. We will also expand our service target countries after Korea, the United States and Canada.
The S10 includes crypto and blockchain features such as a digital asset wallet, digital signing and dapps which presumably will be available on the entire Galaxy range.
Samsung appears committed to leading blockchain into the new paradigm as it is in talks with several major telecom companies to work together to build blockchain based digital identity tools and other projects. The company also recently invested approximately $3MM into Ledger, a cold storage cryptocurrency wallet company.
