Beta app, Tippin, has enabled a Google Chrome extension specifically for Twitter. It allows users to send Bitcoin via the Lightning Network almost as instantaneously as ‘liking’ a Tweet.
Once installed, a lightning bolt appears next to the “comment”, “retweet”, “like” and “message” functions. After the lightning bolt has been clicked, a QR code pops up to link the users wallet address.
Tippin is the result of a project of Founder, Sergio Abril, developed while attempting to gain more experience with the Bitcoin Lightning Network stating: “Tippin started as a personal side project a couple of months ago, so I could understand lightning network a bit more, and of course help push adoption, but it’s starting to get big.”
The company plans to add support for other social media networks shortly.
