January 3, 2019 marks the 10th anniversary of the creation of the Genesis block on the Bitcoin blockchain. Six days later, on January 9, 2009, the inaugural software was released and on January 12, 2009, the very first Bitcoin transaction from Satoshi Nakamoto to famed programmer and developer Hal Finney was performed (10 BTC).
In Bitcoin, Satoshi solved a difficult quandary in computing – the Byzantine Generals Problem. In general terms, this is a complex issue in consensus building mechanisms within a system where one can not trust other communication channels. The development of blockchain created a very sophisticated and revolutionary way to build trust in this system.
And it was brought to the world a decade ago today.
